Instructions
on how to install your granite or marble
sign
Choose your site carefully, and mark
the spot where you would like the top centre of your sign
to
be and mark with a pencil etc.
Look at the back of your sign for the positioning of the
pin and adjust the mark on the wall
accordingly. (pin positions vary according to the artwork
applied)
With a drill (slightly larger than the brass pin) make a
hole in the wall slightly deeper than the brass
pin that protrudes from the plaque. ANGLE THE HOLE SLIGHTLY
DOWNWARDS (about 80
degrees). You will see that the pin in the plaque is
already slightly angled to allow for optimum
support.
Generously apply ‘Hard as Nails’ to your pin hole and to
the back of your plaque. Don’t go too
crazy near the edges as you don’t want the glue to ooze out
the edges when you put pressure on it.
Place your plaque with the pin in the hole, straighten, and
apply pressure across the surface evenly
to help adhere the plaque. I use a spirit level but you
might like to use the wall surface, brick line etc.
The pin is there to take the weight of the sign until the
glue product sets.
Please be patient and allow the ‘Hard as Nails’ to go off.
If you like you could gaffer the plaque to
the wall for 24 hours while it sets. This is not absolutely
necessary but does allow you to walk away
from your sign as soon as you have erected it. BE CAREFUL
not to put gaffer over your art work AND
remove the gaffer gently the next day.
If your sign is out in the weather, that’s fine but it is a
good idea to give the top and sides of your
sign a bead of silicone so that water, dust or insects
don’t fall in. We recommend this for all signs.
